The New Museum, to be located in Parramatta on the Riverbank site, will be the flagship campus for MAAS, and on the cutting edge of science and innovation. The NSW Government wants to ensure it is designed with input from the people of Sydney and beyond.

It’s also important the community is involved in the conversation about the potential for an arts and cultural space in Ultimo that includes consideration of some MAAS presence at the current Powerhouse Museum site.

Building on past consultation, there will be a range of opportunities across Western Sydney and Sydney’s CBD over the coming months to provide input into the vision for the New Museum at Parramatta and the future for the Ultimo site.

Stakeholders will be consulted from across education, culture, industry, government and community. Phase two consultation will commence shortly and you can have your say in the following ways:

  • Chatting to us at pop-ups in shopping precincts and cultural centres
  • Outreach and deliberative forums
  • Online survey
  • Stakeholder briefings

Feedback from consultation will be considered in the development of the extended business case. To keep up to date with all our consultation activities, subscribe.

The MAAS Project team has engaged the community in Phase One of consultation through:

  • An online survey
  • Postcards and info sheets about the MAAS Project handed out at pop-up stalls
  • Meetings with key community groups and stakeholders
  • Brochures translated into four key languages – Chinese (simplified script), Arabic, Vietnamese and Hindi, and copies placed on the MAAS project website.
  • Sent out emails to key stakeholders and people who have registered for project updates
  • Public meetings – two public meetings were held, one in Parramatta and the other at the Powerhouse Museum in Ultimo. Summaries of these meetings can be downloaded below.
